Quality & Safety

Bore´s Safety and Quality Management System (“SQMS”) fulfills the requirements of the International Safety Management Code (“ISM”) and the Environmental management system standard ISO 14001.
The purpose of the SMS is to ensure that Bore's shore- and ship organisations operate using procedures accepted by the Bore management.

Quality goals in the operation

With the support of a certified, well-functioning safety and quality system we will assure our customers and our other interest groups that we are able to operate safely and credibly in all circumstances, and that we also shall minimise the environmental impact on the marine environment.
Our goal is to give our customers safe and economical transport at sea. All Bore personnel are continuously trained to maintain a high quality level and to achieve continuous qualitative improvements by documentation of the operation and by a well functioning flow of information.

Ensuring Safety at Sea

We try to ensure safety at sea to prevent accidents, loss of human life, pollution of the environment and damage to property.
In emergency situations measures shall be taken to avoid, in order of importance: loss of human life, pollution of the environment, and damage to property.

This will be done by: 

• Creating safe rules in ship operations and working environment. 
• Creating methods against all known risks connected to operations. 
• Training the company’s shore-based and ship personnel systematically to internalise rules of the Bore SQMS. 
• Making necessary precautions for different emergency situations, and for actions during emergencies and fault situations, both onboard the vessels and in the offices.

Having an active system of reporting and learning/acting on near misses, incidents and accidents and to avoid that any of these results in a crisis situation.
Internal audits and inspections as well as external audits will ensure that the SMS is up to date and adhered to in all operations.
The Shipmaster can only deviate from the SMS, if in emergency situation where he has to protect human life, the environment or the vessel.
